DO I NEED TO VISIT A GP TO REGISTER ACC?

Your osteopath can do this for you, no need to visit a GP first. Simply book an Initial ACC appointment and look for the link to the online ACC form in the booking confirmation email. ACC defines an accident as “a specific incident, event, or series of events, which causes an injury to a person”.

Are PREVIOUS MEDICAL REPORTS relevant?

Yes it is helpful for your osteopath to see any x-ray, ultrasound and specialist reports relating to your recent health. Emailing the reports before the appointment is ideal - info@osteomatters.co.nz

IS OSTEOPATHY SAFE?

Osteopathy uses gentle and safe hands-on techniques. Osteopaths are primary health care providers and are trained to identify risks that may require referral. In addition osteopaths do not just treat the symptoms but look into the cause of your pain and discomfort and treat accordingly

WHAT HAPPENS IN A CONSULTATION?

In the initial consultation you will be asked questions related to your general health and background. This will allow for a better understanding of your overall health and potential factors contributing toward your pain and discomfort. This is followed by an examination and treatment.  Osteos use a range of techniques to treat including soft-tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilisation and spinal manipulation

Do I need to take my clothes off?

Generally this isn’t necessary but it is helpful to wear comfortable flexible clothing

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL IT TAKE TO GET BETTER?

Every individual is different and the number of treatments will depend on the nature of the issue. We aim to help you recover as quickly as possible and give you tools to improve your overall health

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT LAST?

Treatments are an hour for the initial consultation and up to 45 mins for returns

DO YOU TREAT BABIES?

We treat children 5 years and older, however there are many osteopaths who specialise in treating babies. Please get in touch if you would like more information
